Now that AMERICAN IDOL has pared down its finalists to a manageable seven, the producers decided to bust out the most original theme in the show's 13 seasons, Competitor's Picks. How it basically works is, Randy Jackson did his only work of the season by playing stenographer as each contestant recommended songs for everyone else in the competition. Randy then handed pieces of paper to all seven remaining finalists, who subsequently picked their song for the week based off of that list.

New York Times Critic Ben Brantley Responds to James Franco's Jab
Directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, the new Broadway production of Of Mice and Men officially opened last night, April 16, 2014 at the Longacre Theatre, to mostly positive reviews from the critics. James Franco, who stars as George in the play, wasn't satisfied with a review by New York Times theatre critic Ben Brantley. Franco recently wrote a comment about the review from his official Instagram account which has since been removed, which was captured by Vanity Fair's Richard Lawson. Franco writes Sadly Ben Brantley and the NYT have embarrassed themselves. Brantley is such a little bitch he should be working for Gawker.com instead of the paper of record. The theatre community hate him, and for good reason, he's an idiot.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced that designer Mark Adam Rampmeyer has joined the organization as the Costume Rental Manager. Mr. Rampmeyer's career has spanned more than 30 years in professional theater and he is very excited to pursue this new career opportunity. In this new position Mark will be responsible for curating the collection of over 250,000 pieces which can be used in Goodspeed productions and rented to professional theatres and universities across the country. This is a brand- new direction for my career and for Goodspeed's collection, he stated, I look forward to the first time I get to hang the work of an emerging designer next to that of some of the theater world's greatest talents like Gregg Barnes, Willa Kim, William Ivey Long and so many others currently in this incredible collection.
