Cleveland's Playhouse Square Will Dim Its Marquee in Honor of Local Star Kyle Jean-Baptiste
Cleveland's Playhouse Square announced this evening it will dim its marquee at 9 p.m. tomorrow, September 1, in honor of local and national up-and-coming talent Kyle Jean-Baptiste. Jean-Baptiste died on Friday, August 28 at the age of 21 after an accident at home, in which he fell off his mother's fire escape.
Imperial Theatre to Dim Its Lights After LES MISERABLES Tomorrow in Memory of Kyle Jean-Baptiste
The Broadway community mourns the loss of actor Kyle Jean-Baptiste, who passed away early Saturday morning at age 21. The marquee of Broadway's Imperial Theatre, 249 West 45th Street, will be dimmed in his memory on Tuesday, September 1st at approximately 1015 pm following the evening performance of LES MISERABLES where he made history on July 23 when he became the first African American actor, and the youngest person ever, to play the lead role of Jean Valjean in the Broadway production of LES MISERABLES.

It was a sad afternoon in Central Park today, as a family and friends of Kyle Jean-Baptiste gathered to mourn his tragic loss. LES MISERABLES cast members, Baldwin Wallace classmates, and fellow Broadway performers shed tears and shared embraces under the watch of the Bethesda Fountain angel and tried to find some solace in these truly heartbreaking circumstances.During the memorial, the fountain was encircled with love and support and attendees joined in singing a short portion of 'Do You Hear the People Sing'

AEA & Broadway League Reach Tentative Production Contract Agreement
Actors' Equity Association Equity, the national union of professional stage actors and stage managers, and The Broadway League League, the national trade association for the Broadway and touring industry, have successfully reached a tentative agreement for the union's Production Contract, a month before the current contract expires. Equity's premiere agreement, the Production Contract covers actors and stage managers on Broadway, and in full production tours and tiered touring productions.
